Breaking the Cycle of Teenage Pregnancy

Teen Parents is a holistic, strength-based ministry that educates and empowes pregnant and parenting young people. We utalize education and mentoring to promote positive life change, resulting in healthier families who break the cycle of teenage pregnancy.

3 Main Components:

Groups: We provide groups that are educationally focused, dealing with life and parenting skills. We also intentionally focus on community building during our group times allowing for natural support systems to form.

Mentoring: We match one expereinced parent with one of our young parents. As authentic relationship develops, we earn the right to speak into their life. Here is where we often see the most signficiant life changes happen, including the transformation that comes through a relationship with Jesus.

Baby Boutique: Our parents have the opportunity to earn Baby Bucks through positive life improving activities such as attending group, meeting with their mentor, attending school consistantly, etc. Our parents can then spend these Baby Bucks in our Boutique that is filled with baby equipement and supplies. The Baby Boutique is stocked completely through community donation of new and gently used items.

What is the need?

In Kitsap County, 1 in every 22 girls ages 15 - 19 will get pregnant this year. Of the babies born to teen parents, 83% will end up becoming a teen parent themselves unless something is done.

YFC is standing in the gap with these expecting and parenting teens. We believe the cycle can be changed...we believe these lives can be transformed. Will you join us in sharing God's love with these young people?
